Golden State Warriors Swiss Army knife forward Draymond Green was hurt during Monday’s 89-75 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Spurs swingman Danny Green accidentally kicked Draymond near the groin area while driving to the basket, forcing the latter to exit the game. After initial examinations at the half, it was decided by the Warriors to keep Draymond out of the contest because of a pelvic contusion.

Talking with reporters after the game, Green expressed his optimism about his immediate status, saying that he does not think he will be missing any time because of the injury, per Anthony Slate of The Athletic.

The Warriors are uncharacteristically in a slump. After bowing to the Spurs, Golden State’s record dropped to 53-18. The Warriors also have now lost four of their past six outings. While they are assured of a playoff spot in the Western Conference along with the Houston Rockets, it is still important for them to finish the regular season strong to gain some momentum heading into the postseason.

But with Golden State’s top players on the shelf because of various injuries, winning games have become a bigger challenge than when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Devin Durant were all around. Curry is out with an ankle injury, Thompson with a thumb ailment, and Durant with a rib cartilage fracture.

Green is the last Warriors all-star standing, so if he would eventually get ruled out for at least next Friday’s contest against the Atlanta Hawks at home, Golden State will be left with a bunch of second stringers to cover the void of their star teammates.

Considering wide gap between Monday’s game and the date with Atlanta, Green could have enough time to be 100 percent healthy against the Hawks.
