The Golden State Warriors are currently functioning with extreme confidence after a blazing 5-1 start. However, fans surely won't forget how difficult it was during the last two seasons. The Warriors finished dead last in the 2019-2020 season and failed to make the playoffs last year.

Draymond Green's shooting struggles take part in Golden State's horrors during the post-KD era.

Kevin Durant's arrival in Golden State did not aid Green's three-point percentage, as he shot the ball less.

“A wise man once told me: If you don’t use something, you lose it,” Green said.
Green is referring to those Durant years.

“Yeah, you don’t use it, and all of a sudden I’m taking one 3 every three games, and if I miss it, my percentages go to sh*t,” Green said. “Before you know it, in 10 games, I’m 0-for-7, my percentage has gone to hell, and then that can f**k with your confidence.”

In 2018, Green's percentage from the three fell dramatically; after years of shooting above 30 percent, he managed to register 28.5 percent from the line— which is below decent standards. He lost his confidence completely, especially during the Warriors' dark days, shooting 27 percent in the 2020-2021 season.

However, this season, although Green is only averaging 0.8 attempts, he is shooting 60 percent from the 3-point line— a massive improvement from the past few seasons.

“The shot feels pretty good,” the Warriors forward said. “I think when you go so long without shooting, it’s a mental hurdle you have to get over. I’ll say that’s where I am. But I can shoot the sh*t out the ball. I know that.”

However, a trend has been ongoing, leaving defenders to ignore Green as a threat from beyond the arc, hurting his confidence even more.

“Absolutely,” Green acknowledges. “I’m just getting over that.”

When asked if he is getting over that or have gotten over it,

“I’m getting there,” Green said.

As of now, the Green doesn't seem to be hurting the warriors. Instead, he plays his usual role to aid Stephen Curry by dishing out assists and defending. The Warriors are on a roll this year, which is why fans should be more excited and concerned about Klay Thompson's condition as his return is looming.
