Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green couldn't contain his excitement after his team managed to win two games in a row for the first time this season, something that had been merely commonplace during the past half-decade.
The Warriors managed to hold on against the Minnesota Timberwolves after a wave of late-game mistakes, pulling off the win, 113-104. Green was feeling good afterward:
“It feels f***ing amazing,” said Green, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I never thought I’d be so excited about two regular season wins in my life.”
It has been a struggle for the Warriors, who only a few years ago were challenging for the best record in NBA history and are now trying to pull away from the bottom of the cellar, leaving the 6-25 Atlanta Hawks there for a brief moment.
Green had a big imprint in nabbing this latest win, as it was his rebounding and intensity that kept the ship sailing north in the midst of a series of and-1 plays and nonsensical fouls down the stretch that made the score too close for comfort. The newly extended forward knocked down a pair of clutch free throws to give the Warriors some breathing room, finishing with nine points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block.
The Warriors are 7-24 this season, far from where they thought they'd be before Stephen Curry went down to a broken left hand. They will have to navigate at least five more weeks without him, taking in the little joys like winning consecutive games.
