The Golden State Warriors plan to sign center Andrew Bogut for the remainder of the season once he receives clearance from the Sydney Kings of Australia’s National Basketball League, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The clearing process is expected to take about 48 hours, as Bogut recently finished his full season in the Australian league, as none else than league MVP.

The Warriors recently emerged as the frontrunners to garner his services, beating out the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers, who also looked to put an insurance policy to their starting center, Joel Embiid.

The Sixers had also lost backup Boban Marjanovic to a scare last week, making this an urgent point of contention, but one they ultimately lost due to Bogut's former ties with the Warriors organization.

The 7-foot Aussie last played for the Warriors in 2015-16, as he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks after the season, which ultimately set up the floor for Kevin Durant's signing as a free agent.

Since, Bogut has played for the Mavs, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers, totaling only 51 appearances throughout those three years and now a full year removed from NBA action.

For what is worth, Bogut is finally healthy for the first time in recent years, and looked plenty competent in his time playing back in his native land.

Bogut's screen-setting and hard-hitting defense were a staple of his tenure with the Dubs throughout his four-year tenure with the team. Things he can still do at the age of 33, likely playing a role under DeMarcus Cousins as an insurance policy and a capable pivot man for the second unit.
