Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has been ruled out until the All-Star break, president Bob Myers said during Monday's Media Day, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

While Myers said he is “doing fine” in his rehab, the Warriors don't expect to have an update on his recovery until it gets closer to February. If there is no fluctuation between this timeline and his recovery, Thompson is slated to miss at least 55 regular season games with this injury, only able to help his team in the back end of the season, as they push for a playoff spot.

Thompson was expected to miss this long a stretch after sustaining the injury at the latest possible point in the season and undergoing surgery in July. It will be up to the new trio of Stephen Curry, D'Angelo Russell, and Draymond Green, along with the role players to keep the ship afloat until his eventual return.

The marksman has been a key contributor during his past five seasons with the team, scoring 20 or more points per game in each of them, as well as knocking down 40% or more from beyond the arc in each of his eight seasons in the league. His impact is palpable, and likely irreplaceable at this point — a challenge the Warriors will have to take on in this new post-Kevin Durant era.

Thompson's return to the lineup will not only bolster the Warriors' perimeter-oriented offense, but also provide a strong and experience wing defender to round them back into shape.
