Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson says he will consider how his left knee is feeling after the 2019-20 season before fully committing to be part of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The Americans won gold at the summer Olympics back in 2016 in Brazil. That team had Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Kyle Lowry, Harrison Barnes, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, Draymond Green and Carmelo Anthony on it.

Thompson's backcourt mate, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, is expected to play for Team USA in the 2020 Olympics.

Klay tore his left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Thompson’s agent said in July Thompson’s recovery is going to be tilted toward the back end of a 5-to-7 month timetable.

Last season, Thompson averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Warriors. The five-time All-Star shot 46.7 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2019 playoffs, Thompson put up 20.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The Warriors lost to the Raptors in the NBA Finals in six games.

Thompson should only play in the Olympics if he's feeling good. Otherwise, staying off his feet and getting rest could be Thompson's gameplan for the summer of 2020.
