Magic Johnson is no longer working for an NBA front office, so he is free to express his opinions on social media without having to worry about the league bringing forth a tampering fine.

On Tuesday, Johnson took to Twitter to convey his thoughts on Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant, who suffered what many believe was a torn Achilles during Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.

While the history of NBA players tearing their Achilles does not exactly inspire much confidence that Durant will ever be able to regain his old form, Magic Johnson thinks Durant will be just fine once he returns:

The only player who has ever successfully come back from a torn Achilles is Dominique Wilkins, so Durant would have to buck the trend.

Durant originally sustained a calf strain during Game 5 of the Warriors' second-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets and proceeded to miss Game 6 of that series and the entire Western Conference Finals, which ended up being a four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Golden State then played the first four games of the NBA Finals without him, but quickly fell behind 3-1 to a determined, Kawhi Leonard-led Toronto Raptors team as it became more and more obvious that the Dubs desperately needed Durant.

Durant then tried to play in Game 5 and looked great early on, scoring 11 first-quarter points, but in the second period, he went to put a move on Serge Ibaka and then crumpled to the floor holding his right Achilles.
