Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has admitted how he expects his players to be gutted once the NBA season officially restarts. The Dubs were one of the eight teams that were not invited by the league to participate in the Florida bubble, and Myers explains why this is going to be a tough pill to swallow for the Warriors players.

According to Myers, the fact that the Warriors have been so used to going on very deep playoff runs over the past years will place them in an unfamiliar situation as they watch the rest of the season unfold from the outside looking in.

“I think it'll be hard for our guys to watch this thing go,” Myers said Friday morning on 95.7 The Game's “Joe, Lo & Dibs” show, via NBC Sports' Drew Shiller. “I think it's easier now because the playoffs haven't started, and the Orlando thing is just still getting off the ground.

“But as competitors — when you're used to being in the playoffs and you're not part of that party — you feel that. Our guys will feel that. I think they'll watch some of the playoffs and it will motivate them.”

Ever the optimist, Myers did present a bit of a silver lining here. He believes that this very disappointing season should serve as motivation for his squad, as they look to bounce back for the 2020-21 campaign.

Golden State is expected to be fully healthy next term, and a few offseason additions are also forthcoming, so if everything goes according to plan, the Warriors should mount another challenge for the title next season.
