Golden State Warriors players, coaches and fans had their heart skip a beat during Sunday's loss to the Phoenix Suns when Kevin Durant went down with an ankle injury. Afterwards, however, head coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism that the injury, so close to the postseason, isn't considered to be serious.
During the post-game presser, Kerr told reporters that he spoke with Durant and got the impression that the the All-Star forward is doing fine.
Kerr doesn’t sound concerned about KD’s ankle. Said he talked to Durant after the game for a moment and he was fine.

Steve Kerr said the Kevin Durant ankle injury doesn't appear to be serious. Talked to him postgame. Sounds minor.

Durant was his usual efficient self during the loss to Suns, collecting 25 points on 9-for-17 shooting across 30 minutes on Sunday.
Of course, the home loss to the team dwelling in the basement of the Western Conference comes as an anomaly — one not likely to bother the reigning champions for any extended period of time — especially with a showdown against the Houston Rockets looming Wednesday.
The Warriors have 16 regular-season contests remaining before they officially go into defending their NBA title. It remains to be seen how aggressive Steve Kerr and his training staff will be in getting Durant back into the mix before the playoffs, but it's a good thing there's little concern about his condition.
Durant has been sidelined for just one contest this season, so when he's healthy to play, it appears that he'll be a go. On his way to averaging better than 25 points per game for the 11th straight year, Durant is also on pace to set a new career high with 5.7 assists per contest.
