After the Golden State Warriors' first practice on Tuesday, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters something the rest of the league doesn't want to hear: It won't be too long before DeMarcus Cousins is participating in practice.

Cousins tore his left Achilles tendon in January. The four-time All-Star will only do non-contact drills during training camp, but by the looks of it, the talented center may be ahead of schedule in his rehab regiment.

At media day on Monday, DeMarcus Cousins told reporters, “I'm in a lot better place now. Physically, I am coming along great. There hasn't been any setbacks.” Before getting injured with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, Cousins was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds in 48 regular season games while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The Warriors are already the clear favorites to win the 2019 NBA title, and now they are close to integrating Cousins into their unique system. Once they add Cousins to the starting lineup and he gets his groove back, Golden State will have five All-Stars in the starting lineup in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Cousins.

Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Warriors, shocking the entire NBA community. He reportedly turned down an extension offer from the Pelicans before the season ended and didn't receive any interest from teams around the league once free agency began in July. Cousins said the Warriors were his “ace of spades.”
