One of the better off-the-court stories to take place in this first round involved Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and his son Nick.

Nick Kerr is currently working as an intern for the San Antonio Spurs and before Game 1 of the playoffs, he was voted out of the film room by the players before coach Gregg Popovich let him stay.

There have been many rumors floating around about if Steve Kerr put his son Nick up to this to act like a spy. In the pregame press conference before Game 2, the elder Kerr made it known once and for all that his son isn't acting as such.

“He loves his team, he's dying to win and he's dying to beat us just like we are dying to beat them. He's unbelievably loyal to Pop and his players and I couldn't be more proud of him. He doesn't want any of the attention so I think maybe the jokes are over, we need to move past that, poor guy.”

It isn't just the media and players that have joked about him being a spy. Back in 2017, Popovich told The Athletic's Antony Slater that they had to pat him down every day after work.

It is all fun, though, and it's been made clear that neither Kerr nor Popovich have a problem with Nick working for the Spurs.

Popovich used to coach Kerr back in his playing days so they have had a really good relationship for a long time and that is something that probably helped Nick land the internship.
