The New York Jets will try to take down the New England Patriots in Week 3. The odds are against them to win, but Le'Veon Bell is destined for a massive breakout performance versus the Patriots.

The Jets signed Le'Veon Bell in the offseason to a lucrative four-year deal worth $52.5 million. By signing him, New York believed that the versatile running back could provide them with a reliable weapon alongside Sam Darnold.

However, Darnold has developed symptoms consistent with mono and is expected to be out for a few weeks. The second-year quarterback was inactive in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns.

In his place, Trevor Siemian stepped in as the starting quarterback but his first start since 2017 was cut short with an injury. With Siemian being ruled out for the season, Luke Falk will be the starter until Darnold can return.

With Falk under center, the Jets are going to deploy a gameplan that gets their workhorse running back the ball. Last week versus the Browns, Bell touched the ball 31 times for a total of 129 yards from scrimmage.

Similarly to Monday night's game, the volume is going to be there for Bell. It is up to the offensive line and Bell to produce with the touches that he does receive.

On the other hand, scoring on the Patriots seems to be the most impossible feat for any offense. New England's defense hasn't allowed a touchdown since last year's AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the three games since then, Bill Belichick's crew has surrendered just six points. There's no doubt that there's a chance that Le'Veon Bell is unable to get going due to the stifling defense of the Patriots.

At the same time though, the talented running back could also put the offense on his back and have a breakout performance. As for helping them win the game, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

The Patriots are the reigning Super Bowl champs for a reason. They have created one of the greatest sports dynasties in the past two decades; with Tom Brady and Belichick at the helm.

Again, there are going to be plenty of touches coming in Bell's direction on Sunday. At any given moment, Le'Veon Bell can turn any play into a touchdown with his ability to see the field. The veteran rusher is going to show why the Jets paid him in Week 3.
