Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer and he could get paid handsomely.

According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, Bertans could get between $15 million and $20 million per season next summer, although opinions vary on what Bertans will get on the open market:

“He will get between $15M and $20M (per year) this summer.” said one former front office person. “Most likely for a two-year deal. Don’t see him getting a four-year deal.”

But a current GM didn’t agree. “He will not get 20M,” the GM texted. “(There’s) only six teams with space.”

Bertans is making $7 million this season with the Wizards. He's been one of the biggest surprises of the season. The swingman is averaging 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists through 23 games while shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 46.5 percent from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards acquired Bertans from the San Antonio Spurs this past offseason in a deal that was made for the Spurs to sign Marcus Morris, who backed out of his agreement with San Antonio and signed with the New York Knicks instead.

Teams are always looking for stretch forwards who can shoot accurate from deep. Bertans figures to get a nice payday next summer. We'll see if the Wizards pony up to re-sign him.
