Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall will begin jogging soon as he recovers from heel and Achilles surgery.

Wall underwent season-ending surgery on his left heel in January and then ruptured his left Achilles tendon after slipping and falling in his home. The Wizards guard could miss the entire 2019-20 season.

“I’m about to start jogging in like two weeks,” Wall said, via the Washington Post. “I’m just riding the bike, I get to do exercises standing up now. I don’t have to sit down, I’m able to move, do ladder steps, those types of things. Just taking my time, progressing, healing the right way so I don’t force myself and get another injury.”

Wall played in 32 games this past season. He averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line. Wall signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension (Designated Veteran Player Extension) with the Wizards in the summer of 2017. That contract kicks in next season.

Many believe Wall will never be the same explosive player again. The former No. 1 overall pick is using that as fuel this offseason while he rehabs. The Wizards want Wall to take his time. Owner Ted Leonsis said at the beginning of June if Wall has to miss the entire 2019-20 season, he wouldn't have a problem with it.
