Washington Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. has noticed something unique in Montrezl Harrell this season.

Montrezl Harrell had a hot start with the Wizards and has become the most reliable co-star of Bradley Beal. However, it has become evident that his impactful performances early in the season seems to be disappearing lately.

Addressing Harrell's recent form, coach Unseld Jr. stressed that one good reason behind it was the adjustments made by the opposing teams when guarding the energetic big man.

“Teams are switching and then trying to front him. They’re not letting him catch with as much ease because they know the impact he can have when he catches the ball in the post,” Unseld Jr. said of Harrell via NBC Sports. “I think there’s a concentration to keep him off the offensive glass. So, some of it is, yes, the coverages we’re seeing with him.”

Despite the evident drop, Harrell is still the second best player in the current Wizards team. To date, “Trez” is still second in scoring with 15.2 points per outing. He's also second in overall rebounds with eight per gams while being highly-efficient from the field with 64.8% field goal percentage.

All told, Unseld Jr. is still convinced that Harrell is still a key figure in his squad. More importantly, he has vowed to “continue to find ways” to get the dominant forward back on track.

“He’s been a big part of our success,” the Wizards coach of admitted of Harrell. “We have to continue to find ways to get him involved, but he’s also gotta make sure he’s bringing that energy from the moment he steps on the floor.”
