While it was unexpected, the Russell Westbrook era with the Washington Wizards has officially begun. The former MVP has been able to contribute in his normal stature against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.

As the first quarter got underway, Westbrook was able to kick out his first assists and score his first bucket as a member of the Washington Wizards. His first bucket came while being guarded by Ben Simmons, who gave Westbrook plenty of air space to shoot the mid-range jumper.

There haven't been many expectations set on Westbrook and the Wizards this season. They'll be heading into a year where the Eastern Conference surely will have some spots up for grabs, which should allow them the chance to grace the playoffs.

Westbrook was brought over in the star-swap that shipped off beloved former Wizards star John Wall to the Houston Rockets. One of the more interesting storylines for the season will be in seeing how well Westbrook and Bradley Beal can mesh together in the backcourt.

At the current Westbrook has turned in a productive first quarter as it draws to a close. He's put up more than six points while grabbing four rebounds and four assists, putting him on schedule for notching a triple-double.
