Almost a year ago, Logan Paul wore a graded Charizard card on his neck right before he faced Floyd Mayweather in the ring. And much like that fight, the social media personality did the same during his WWE Wrestlemania entrance with the Miz, albeit with a different Pokemon card. The thing is, the one he was wearing right before his match with Rey and Dominik Mysterio was worth seven figures.

As Paul entered the ring with his tag team partner, a customized PSA 10 1998 Japanese Promo Pikachu Illustrator Holo card was seen hanging around his neck. The insane detail to take note of here is that this Pokemon card isn't just any ordinary collectible encased inside a graded slab and purchased off eBay. As a matter of fact, it's quite the opposite because it's worth $5,275,000.

According to the Guinness World Records, the graded Pikachu Illustrator Holo hanging around Paul's neck during his WWE Wrestlemania entrance was deemed as the most expensive Pokemon card in the whole world. This comes after the Youtube star purchased that said slab in July of 2021 during a private sale in Dubai.

To make this sale possible, Logan exchanged his own Pikachu Illustrator card in a PSA 9 slab that's worth $1,275,000 for the one with a better grade. The social media personality then added $4,000,000 to equal the cost of the PSA 10 Pokemon card.

“The Pikachu Illustrator is one of the rarest and most highly coveted Pokémon cards in the world. Only 39 were given out to Illustration contest winners in 1998, and this was a purchase for the only one in the world that has been graded a perfect “10,” Paul said.

During the match itself, Paul made a splash as the Youtube star and the Miz went on to face the Mysterios. After getting the win over the pair, and even getting a Skull Crushing Finale from his partner, Paul would be presented with another victorious moment backstage.

Paul was presented with a certificate by Guinness as the owner of the most expensive Pokemon card. The social media personality added that he had been trying to achieve this feat his whole life.

“I applied for so many records and the fact that I finally got one after my first win ever? I come back to the locker room and I get a second win right away? I love Pokémon and the fact that it’s been validated with Guinness World Records – this is crazy. Tonight’s a wild night. This does not feel real!” Paul added.

Ken Goldin, Pokemon Cards

Of course, the Pokemon card owned by Paul holds a different record than the one sold by Goldin Auctions a couple of months ago. While Paul's Pikachu Illustrator holo was deemed as the most expensive Pokemon card sold at a private sale, the one Goldin sold was encased in a PSA 7 and is recognized as the most expensive sold via an auction when it went off for $900,000.

All things considered, both Paul's recent WWE win in Wrestlemania and his Pikachu Illustrator slab being named as the most expensive Pokemon card in the world are impressive. The latter, of course, helps solidify the reputation of Pokemon cards, and the hobby itself, in our society today. With this move, it won't be strange nor peculiar anymore to see these cards gain more popularity and break various price records in the market.
