New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is fully proving this season that he's worthy of being the highest-paid position player in baseball. But since the Bronx Bombers failed to give the slugger what he wanted before Opening Day (around $36 million per season), it means Judge will hit the market this winter, with many teams expected to be interested.

But according to sources close to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, only five teams are likely going to have the money available to actually afford the Yankees outfielder.

One Yankees person was heard to remark recently that just five other teams can reasonably afford Judge — the Mets, Dodgers, Giants, Cubs and Red Sox.

Now, it's important to note Judge wants to be a Yankee for the rest of his career. He's made that crystal clear. However, Judge is currently hitting .310 with an MLB-leading 22 home runs. If the 30-year-old keeps it up throughout the course of the campaign, there is not a chance he'll take any less than the money he desires.

Going to the Mets feels like a massive long shot. Judge wouldn't do that to the Yankees fans, who absolutely cherish him. The Red Sox, Giants, Dodgers? Maybe. LA already has so much firepower though and Boston is an arch-rival of NY. Heyman did point out that San Francisco could ultimately be the most logical destination if he doesn't re-sign with the Yankees because of his California roots.

Nevertheless, New York won't want to lose Aaron Judge, but the writing is on the wall. Other ballclubs with lots of money will be trying to lure him away from the Bronx once the winter rolls around. For now, he'll be hoping to take the Yanks to a World Series.
