The Super Bowl LII-winning Philadelphia Eagles came a few wins short of making Super Bowl LIII this past season. After a rocky and uneven attempt to defend their title, they know they have to fortify their roster. They will have to overcome formidable opposition in the NFC if they want to regain their former glory. That process starts by looking in free agency.

Let's take a look at three viable prospects for the team.

Cordarrelle Patterson

The Eagles definitely did well to keep unrestricted free agent Brandon Graham. I had Graham at the top of this list before the Eagles secured an agreement with him late last week. Now that the organization has addressed that particular situation, where else can they turn? Retaining Graham required a considerable investment, so it's not as though the Eagles can pour a ton of money into other free-agent options.

Patterson could be a low-risk, high-reward option for head coach Doug Pederson. Patterson has the body of a receiver who could still be special in the NFL if molded by the right coach. Put Patterson in most NFL situations and he might not thrive, but maybe the Eagles can be different. Philadelphia could bet that Pederson can unlock Patterson's skills. If that happened, this would be a steal.

Nate Sudfield

Now that the Eagles have let Nick Foles go, Nate Sudfield has become an integral part of the team this past season, and he'll become more important going into 2019. Additionally, Sudfield has a pretty low salary cap — only $1.5 million — so he can be re-signed once he becomes a free agent for a relatively reasonable price. The Eagles can more than afford to keep him — and it will cost them much more if they lose him than if they keep him.

Devin Funchess

Finally, here's a player the Eagles should also consider, especially since he has been such a good player for the Carolina Panthers. Devin Funchess may have spent his Panthers career overshadowed by Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen, and now Christian McCaffrey. More of his talents could emerge in another setting, which is a consideration NFL teams always have to be mindful of. Because Funchess is young and relatively inexperienced — though still a quality player — he may definitely be a viable option in the event Golden Tate (also scheduled to become a free agent) proves to be too expensive. If Funchess does join the Eagles, at least he won't be overshadowed by the other players.
