The Atlanta Falcons got off to a slow start to the 2019 season and it really put them in a tough spot for the rest of their season. Even with a strong finish, they couldn't do enough to make the playoffs. Matt Ryan is getting older, and time is running out for him to win a Super Bowl.

With the pressure on the team, this is an important offseason to make all the right moves to get back into the playoffs. One of the big issues for the Falcons this offseason is they don't have a lot of cap space. According to spotrac.com, the Falcons are projected to have a little over $6 million in cap space.

That means the team is going to have to get creative with their free agents. Let's breakdown three underrated guys they could target.

Case Keenum

As Ryan gets older it's get more concerning that he is going to go down with an injury that will knock him out for half the season. Matt Shaub has been a solid backup in the league for many years, but it's time for the team to upgrade with that position.

Case Keenum is a quarterback who is solid under pressure, and he would be a perfect backup quarterback to sit behind Ryan. If Ryan were to go out with injury, Keenum isn't as good, but he could still win a few games with all the playmakers on the Falcons offense.

Jordan Howard

Jordan Howard has bounced around since coming into the league, but he is still only 25 years old, and in the right situation he could become a true number one back. During the 2019 season, he only played in ten games but he still rushed 119 times for 525 yards and six touchdowns.

The Falcons running game was terrible during the 2019 season if the team could get Howard on a cheaper contract, it would be worth the risk.

Eric Ebron

If the Falcons lose Austin Hooper in free agency, the team is going to need to find a receiving tight end threat and the perfect guy would be Eric Ebron.

Ebron had some issues during the 2019 season, but when he isn't dropping the ball, he is having a lot of success. He still finished the season catching 31 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns.

Even if the team brings back Hooper, if they can get Ebron on a cheap contract, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pair the two together.
