The 2019 season was disappointing for the Indianapolis Colts. Coming into the season there was the hope of a Super Bowl contender, but when Andrew Luck everything changed. Jacoby Brissett was super inconsistent and there are questions if he should be the long term option under center for the team.

The good news for the Colts is they are projected to have over $86 million in cap space, according to spotrac.com. There is no doubt the team will target some star players, but there are also some players who are signed that not many are talking about.

Let's breakdown three underrated free agents the Colts could target.

Rashard Higgins

Rashard Higgins didn't get a lot of run during the 2019 season with the Browns, but he could be a good depth option for the Colts. During the 2018 season, he played in 13 games catching 39 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns. There are other wideout options the team could go after, but if the team wants to bring in a depth guy, Higgins would make a whole lot of sense.

Nigel Bradham

The Colts need some help at inside linebacker, and Nigel Bradham would make a lot of sense. During the 2019 season, he only played in 12 games but he was still an impact player. Colts coach Frank Reich is also very familiar with what Bradham can bring to a team after spending time together with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He is 30 years old but has proven that he still has a few years of good football left. This should be a top target for the Colts during free agency.

Case Keenum

Brian Hoyer is still under contract for two more years but the Colts can release him without any cap penalties. Hoyer was fine, but bringing in a different face might be best for this team. Depending on who the team wants to draft, it would make a lot of sense for the team to bring in Case Keenum.

Keenum hasn't been able to recreate the one magical season he had with the Vikings, but he is a solid backup that can come in and win a few games if needed. During the 2019 season, he completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 1,707 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

If the team goes in a different direction for their starting quarterback, the team should keep Jacoby Brissett as their backup, but if they keep Brissett under center, Keenum makes a lot of sense.
