The Chicago Bears have had a rough season after looking like one of the NFL's elite teams last year. After suffering through an offseason with a horrible taste in their mouth from the Cody Parkey “double-doink,” the Bears were expected to be a Super Bowl contender again this season. That has not been anything close to the case.

Heading into their Week 14 Thursday Night Football matchup with the Cowboys, the Bears are just 6-6. Matt Nagy and company are going up against a Cowboys' team that is also 6-6 and in desperate need of a win to improve their lead on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East division race.

It will be interesting to see how this game plays out. Chicago will need a complete team performance in order to pull out the win. They are not out of the playoff picture yet, but a loss would seal their fate.

Mitchell Trubisky has had a rough season, to say the least. Chicago's offense as a whole has been an absolute disaster. Dallas, on the other hand, has had trouble staying consistent offensively as well and their defense has been solid.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at four reasons why the Bears will defeat the Cowboys this week.

4. The Ground Game Is Starting To Get Going

Throughout the entire season up to this point, Nagy has had issues figuring out the balance between the passing game and the running game. He has received a ton of criticism from the fans and media this year. Last week against the Lions, Nagy started figuring things out.

David Montgomery is just a rookie, but he is a hard runner that is capable of making plays. Tarik Cohen may not be having the breakout season that many were expecting, but he is a playmaker as well. Chicago will find a way to get their running game going, which will put the Cowboys' defense in a tough place.

3. Chicago Will Put A Ton Of Pressure On Dak Prescott

If there is one thing that the Bears have been able to do all season long, it is putting pressure on the quarterback. Khalil Mack is still one of the top pass rushers in the NFL and will come through with a massive game. Chuck Pagano is ready for this matchup and he isn't going to shy away from blitzing early and often.

Prescott is a quality quarterback who at times has been talked about as an MVP candidate. While he is a good player, he will make a key mistake or two against the pressure.

2. Dallas Doesn't Have A Defense Capable Of Stopping Chicago

Adding on to the first point about the Bears' running game, the Dallas defense is going to have a lot of trouble this week. Trubisky may not be playing well, but he is still capable of turning things around.

Trubisky has some quality weapons at his disposal. Allen Robinson has been playing like a star and Anthony Miller has also been stepping up in a big way. The offense is going to have a good game and will put the Cowboys in a world hurt.

1. Mitchell Trubisky Is Starting To Figure Things Out

Mitchell Trubisky may very well be the most criticized player in the NFL so far this season. He has not had the season that fans were expecting from him. Thankfully, Trubisky showed signs of improvement last week on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions.

He completed 29 of his 38 pass attempts for 338 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. It was a big step in the right direction and he will continue that trend this week. Trubisky is going to play well and he is going to defeat the Cowboys when everything is said and done.
