The San Francisco 49ers are officially headed to Super Bowl LIV in Miami to take on the NFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs, who notably defeated the surging Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon. With the 49ers punching their ticket to the Super Bowl by defeating the heralded Green Bay Packers, it was an unlikely hero in reserve running back Raheem Mostert, who managed to lead the way from start to finish.

Paving the way for Mostert to make a major splash on Sunday evening against the Packers, a team that is no slouch on defense, 49ers starting running back Tevin Coleman almost immediately exited the contest due to what initially appeared to be a pretty significant shoulder injury. With Mostert being forced to step up in a big way for the 49ers, the journeyman rusher did exactly that and then some.

Not only that, but Mostert most notably joined some seriously elite company as he rushed for more than 220 yards and scored a whopping four touchdowns via the ground game. Adding to his legacy and memorable NFC Championship Game performance against the Packers, Mostert joined former NFL running back and Pro Football Hall of Fame legend Eric Dickerson as the only two players in league history to rush for at least 220 yards in a single postseason game.

With the 49ers and Chiefs slated to do battle in a few weeks in Miami, it remains to be seen as to whether or not the aforementioned Coleman will be ready to roll. However, even if Coleman is not healthy enough to play against the Chiefs, the 49ers obviously have a pretty solid backup plan in Mostert.
