San Francisco 49ers star cornerback Richard Sherman wanted to put Jim Harbaugh out of the league.

When Harbaugh was the coach of the 49ers, Sherman made many comments about the organization as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. But according to Sherman, those were all directed at the coach:

“I wanted to put him out of the league,” Sherman said at Super Bowl Media Day, via Phil Barber of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. “And once I got that done, I had no animosity toward the 49ers organization.”

Sherman played for Harbaugh at Stanford, but the relationship was ruined when the current Michigan Wolverines coach claimed he quit on the team. During the 2008 season, Sherman underwent shoulder surgery, and Harbaugh took that as quitting.

Sherman left school with hard feelings and said there are no bridges to mend because they have already been burned down to the ground:

“There is nothing to mend,” Sherman said, via KNBR. “The bridge was burned down, torn down and built another bridge at another place, but the bridge in this particular relationship will never be rebuilt. I don’t think he is interested in it, and I’m not interested in it.”

According to Sherman, the 49ers had a high draft grade on him when he was coming out of college, but Harbaugh took him off the draft board. San Francisco's defense might have looked a little different if Richard Sherman would have started his career as an anchor of the defense, but it's all working out now, as the team is only one win away from another Super Bowl trophy.
