The Oakland Athletics are struggling in 2022 on the baseball field. However, their field condition has been called into question as well. The Athletics are expected to either move out of Oakland or get a new stadium in Oakland soon. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred recently dropped a brutally honest assessment of the Oakland Coliseum, per Bob Nightengale.

“The condition of the Coliseum is a really serious problem for us. It is not a major- league quality facility at this point.”

Rob Manfred is certainly not the most liked man in baseball. But most fans would agree with him in reference to the Coliseum. It has reportedly been in poor condition for quite some time.

If the stadium was the only concern for the team then that would be one thing. But the Oakland Athletics have a number of other issues worth addressing.

The team sold off the majority of their stars during this past offseason. They had been on the verge of winning over the past few years but ultimately fell short in the postseason. Fans were saddened to see stars such as Matt Olson and Sean Manaea traded during the offseason.

Their unwillingness to sign players long-term has caused many to call their ownership cheap. And the most recent story stemming from the 2022 MLB All-Star game did not help that narrative.

Oakland Atheltics All-Star pitcher Paul Blackburn was reportedly set to fly commercial on his way to Los Angeles for the All-Star game. The Houston Astros caught wind of the news and invited Blackburn to fly in their private jet with their All-Stars.

This made the Atheltics organization look bad since they were going to make an MLB All-Star fly commercial. Yikes.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Oakland Athletics organization.
