In an official statement that was released on Tuesday afternoon, the BIG3 revealed that the coaches and players around the league have named Joe Johnson this year's MVP.

Johnson is certainly deserving of this honor, as he was at or near the top of several statistical categories for this season. The seven-time NBA All-Star finished 1st in points (175), 1st in assists (31), 1st in total field goals (63) and 2nd in three-pointers made (16). He also led the BIG3 in one of their trademarks: the four-point shot. Johnson knocked down four of his extended range attempts.

Johnson and the Triplets are set to face the Killer 3s for the BIG3 championship next weekend in Los Angeles. Both teams will be making their first appearance on the league's biggest stage.

ā€œIso Joe,ā€ as Johnson has come to be known, scored 26 points in the Triplets' 50-39 victory over the 3 Headed Monsters to advance to the championship round. As proof of his dominance on the court, he accounted for more than half of his team's tally.

Johnson's legacy in the NBA is already set in stone, but it seems the 38-year-old is looking to add a bit more to his story in the BIG3 League. So far, he's loving every minute.

ā€œMan, Iā€™m enjoying it,ā€ Johnson told Forbes in July. ā€œI really look forward to the competition.ā€
