Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had an up and down rookie season. Allen has been a polarizing player since well before he was drafted, and that continued all the way through his first season in Buffalo. He showed plenty of flashes but was also inconsistent with his accuracy.

Allen showed a lot of athletic potential and often put up huge rushing numbers, but was shaky as a passer for the most part. Of course, a large part of that was due to factors out of his control. The offensive line often had him running for his life, and his best receiver was Zay Jones.

His supporting cast was in desperate need of reinforcements, and thankfully the Bills' front office delivered this offseason. They revamped the offensive line and receiving corp, which included the signing of former Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley.

In a recent interview with Tim Graham of The Athletic, Allen was asked about the presence of Beasley. The Wyoming product indicated it's a huge boost for the offense and also compared him to a very well known receiver.

“It’s big, especially for the type of offense that we run. A good example, New England’s had Julian Edelman for a long time. Tom trusts him, knows where he’s going to be, knows his body language. It’s no secret that we run a similar offense to the Patriots, and we want to utilize our slot guys, too, to make somebody miss and get up field.”

Slot receivers are becoming more and more important in the league, so it's good to see the Bills putting an emphasis on the position. It's an interesting comparison, although there's no need for anyone to get ahead of themselves. If Allen and Beasley can come anywhere close to replicating the success Brady and Edelman have achieved, Bills fans will be ecstatic.
