Buffalo Bills rising third-year quarterback Josh Allen has a likely new No. 1 target in the passing game in former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Diggs, a 26-year-old Maryland product, is most known for being on the receiving end of the “Minneapolis Miracle,” scoring the winning touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the closing seconds of the 2018 NFC Divisional Round Game. He's also recorded over 4,600 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns in five years in the NFL with the Vikings.

Allen, 24, spoke about Diggs as the Bills prepare for the 2020 season during the tumultuous offseason (via NFL Update on Twitter):

“This man loves to work. It was awesome to see the amount of detail he puts into his craft and how communicative he is. He will be loved in the locker room.”

Several teams' players have linked up for unofficial practices during the coronavirus pandemic, like New York Giants second-year signal-caller Daniel Jones and receivers in Texas. For the Bills, Allen and Diggs have been practicing in Florida.

Allen's game has been criticized for his propensity for rushing instead of targeting receivers. The former seventh-overall selection of the 2018 NFL Draft threw for 3,089 passing yards with a 58.8 completion percentage in his sophomore campaign with Buffalo, tossing 20 touchdowns while rushing for nine more in the Bills' second playoff-clinching season in three years.

While Allen was tagged with a strong arm during his prospect days in the lead up to the NFL draft, he has been more reliant on using his feet to make plays happen with the Bills. With the speedy Diggs as a new target downfield, Allen will undoubtedly check for him in the long game.
