The offseason is a golden time to do non-basketball stuff. For Portland Trail Blazers guard Nik Stauskas, now is the perfect time to take it to another level with girlfriend Alex Gerhart.
The former Brooklyn Nets guard announced his engagement to Gerhart to his more than 146,000 followers on the Instagram via a sweet and touching post. Stauskas narrated how he and Gerhart met on August 8 last year and knew immediately from the start that she would say yes to him.

Last year, Stauskas averaged 4.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 41 games with the Nets. In his four years in the NBA, Nik played for Philadelphia, Sacramento and Brooklyn. He will suit up for Portland this year. He may have been a journeyman early in his career but it looks like Stauskas has finally found someone he can spend the rest of his life with.
It will be interesting, however, to see if yet another change in scenery helps the former Michigan Wolverines sharpshooter. There have been times when wayward players, even those who don't seem all that special, figure it out many years into their NBA career. Hopefully that's the case for Nik Stauskas.
