The Portland Trail Blazers have announced that their star guard CJ McCollum has a pneumothorax, which is a collapsed lung, and will be further evaluated. It is unclear how long he will miss, but it could be a lengthy return time as this injury is nothing to mess around with.

McCollum sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of the Blazers' game against the Boston Celtics last December 4. In 24 games this season, McCollum averaged 20.6 points and 4.5 assists.

This is a tough loss for a Blazers team that has already struggled this season. Factor in that the squad is also missing Damian Lillard for some more time, things might start to blow up in Portland. The Blazers are already below .500 as they sit at 11-14 through the first two months of the season.

It was reported earlier that the Blazers might look to trade some guys and head towards a rebuild. It's going to be interesting to see what they decide to do as they have some players who have found some success but just can't seem to piece it together in Portland. There's a high possibility that McCollum will be one of the first players out of the organization as well as guys like Robert Covington and Jusuf Nurkic.

It is unclear how long it will take CJ McCollum to return, but the Blazers will surely miss him
