Once it became clear that the Portland Trail Blazers were going to be swept by the New Orleans Pelicans, trolls quickly flocked on Twitter to give the Blazers players a quick ribbing. C.J. McCollum was not having any of it.

As observed in his Twitter account, McCollum has been roasting these critics. One of which asked if McCollum was tweeting from Jrue Holiday's pocket. To recall, Holiday locked him down on defense whenever they were matched up. Holiday, too, put on his best defensive stance against Damian Lillard.

Yet McCollum replied:

Several fans told McCollum that he should be ignoring his haters. But he responded:

In the series against the Pelicans, McCollum posted decent numbers. He logged in 25.3 points, two rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

Yet he was left alone by his backcourt partner Lilliard who was shut down by Holiday. Lillard suddenly disappeared and wasn't able to recover from the lockdown defense played by Holiday.

He posted a playoff average of 18.5 points a game while shooting just 35.2 percent from the field and accumulated four turnovers per game — all playoff career lows.

Due to this upset, several rumors mushroomed out, saying that the dynamic duo should part ways. They did well in the regular season. But come playoff time, they didn't perform up to par. Maybe they do not have enough chemistry to make a playoff run.

But Lillard was quick to disagree with such rumors, as reported by Ashish Mathur of Pro Hoops Digest:

“I don’t agree with it,” Lillard said. “I think it’s that simple. I think it’s the easiest thing to say. I don’t agree with it, though. I’m not the guy making decisions. It’s a great organization. I think everyone has done a great job. Coach [Terry] Stotts has done a great job since Day 1. We’ve been in the playoffs five years straight.”
