Hassan Whiteside is wasting no time endearing himself to the locals upon his trade to the Portland Trail Blazers, taking a box full of Rip City's famous Voodoo Donuts and sharing them with people in the streets.

Nothing says real love like pounds of fried dough and sugar does, and Whiteside is winning the locals over way before he steps on the court for the preseason later this year.

The former Miami Heat center will leave his former home to try his luck out West, tasked with manning the center spot in the absence of Jusuf Nurkic, who suffered a leg fracture in March, right before the Blazers ramped up their race for the postseason.

Nurkic is expected to be out until at least February, potentially even longer, depending on his recovery.

Portland traded Moe Harkless and Meyers Leonard in a three-team trade with Miami and the L.A. Clippers to snag Whiteside, who will play a significant role with the team in their pressing quest for a playoff spot in a reloaded Western Conference.

If these early July donut runs are any indication, it won't take long before Whiteside is doing some dunking of his own when paired with the star backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, whom he already has a strong relationship with.

The 7-footer is looking to have a bounce-back season with his new team after posting a mere 12.3 points and 11.3 rebounds last season with the Heat, also seeing his defense take a dive in his last two campaigns.
