Portland Trail Blazers prized big man Jusuf Nurkic has recently provided an update on his own road to recovery. According to the 25-year-old, he has been making slow but steady progress, and is now currently at “60 percent” of his rehabilitation process. The Bosnian went on to share that he has been keeping his head up as he looks forward to taking the court again soon.

“I feel hungry,” he said, via Joe Freeman of The Oregonian. “I feel every day hungry more. When I’m with the team, I feel even more hungry. So I lost some weight and I feel great — more explosive, more quick — and when (the) day comes, I’m going to be The Double Beast.”

Nurkic suffered a gruesome leg injury towards the tail end of the regular season last term. He is now the owner of a surgically-reinforced leg, and appears to be nearing his return. To be clear, though, no firm timetable has been set for his comeback, so at this point, it's hard to tell exactly when we will see him on the basketball court again.

Nonetheless, Nurkic remains refreshingly optimistic throughout his ordeal, always looking at the silver lining of what has surely been a challenging past several months.

“It amazes me how I feel,” he said. “What I’ve been through, how everything went down, it’s amazing I have no pain, which is tremendous. So I really try to be on top of that so I can maintain that.”

Odds are, Nurkic will be able to return towards the latter part of the current season, but at that point, the Blazers will definitely be extremely cautious with the 7-foot center.
