The players for the Cleveland Browns witnessed a sight you never want to see with Chad Thomas being put into a stretcher and carted off of the practice field on Monday. Fortunately, Thomas now has feeling in his extremities but will undergo further tests.

During Cleveland's practice, with less than an hour remaining in practice, Freddie Kitchens had to pause practice as Thomas was immobilized and laying on the field. The entire team surrounded Thomas as the medical staff prepared him to be taken off of the field and to a hospital.

Joel Bitonio was one of the players to express their concern after the incident occurred.

“It’s one of the worst things,’’ said left guard Joel Bitonio. “Injuries in football are what you fear the most, and to see a guy get carted off, hopefully, it’s all precautionary stuff and he’s doing OK. I saw him moving and I saw him standing after the play, and I think he went down after that. Hopefully, he’s doing all right, but they just want to take every measure.

The injury occurred when the defensive end took a hit to his shoulder during a play in practice. At first, he seemed fine but he ended up collapsing to his knee before the trainers had him lay on his back. After being looked at, it's believed that Thomas suffered a neck stinger.

Thomas, a second-year defensive end, was drafted by the Browns in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The third-round pick rarely saw the field in his rookie campaign, suiting up in just four games.

In 2019, Thomas was expected to be the backup defensive end to Myles Garrett.

Hopefully, Thomas can regain his health and get back on the practice field with his team soon.
