The Cleveland Browns had no answer for the overwhelming Pittsburgh Steelers offense in Week 8. It seems defensive end Myles Garrett may have an idea of why that is.

Cleveland was dominated in virtually every facet of their 33-18 loss. However, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, Garrett feels the defense took the wrong approach:

“I think we just took the wrong approach this time,” said Garrett. “I think we should've just stayed with what we did the first time, just go with base calls and punch them in the mouth. I feel like we should've stuck with the same game plan.”

It is hard to imagine Garrett's comments sitting well with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Especially now that he has been promoted to interim head coach with the firing of Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. However, it is clear that the Browns still have plenty of work to do.

Cleveland's defense got off to a stellar start after shutting out Pittsburgh's high-powered offense in the first quarter to maintain a 6-0 lead. Unfortunately, things quickly went south from that point on. Running back James Conner enjoyed yet another career day with 146 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. The performance from the defense was a far cry from their spectacular outing in the season opener when they had six takeaways. It appears Garrett has pinned their struggles on their lack of aggression.

While there may be some truth to his comments, now is certainly not the time to cause any more friction. With Jackson and Haley gone, there will likely be a number of changes to both the offense and the defense moving forward.
