Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb missed the team's Week 10 blowout loss to the New England Patriots while on the COVID-19 list. Chubb still needs to return two negative tests before he can return to the NFL field, so he's not out of the woods yet.

However, a recent update from Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt should excite fans of the Browns.

It sure sounds like Nick Chubb will be back on the field for the Browns this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. As Van Pelt notes, the Browns are clearly going to be careful with Chubb's conditioning, but the star halfback is still going to see plenty of opportunities to tote the rock if active against the Lions' toothless, 30th-ranked run defense.

Chubb, who has ran for over 80 rushing yards in six of seven games played this season, could be pivotal to the Browns plans on Sunday with quarterback Baker Mayfield banged up. If Mayfield is limited in anyway, which it sounds like he will be, then the Browns might need to rely on Chubb more than usual.

Even though Cleveland is coming off of an awful, 45-7 loss to the Patriots, there should still be some optimism surrounding the franchise heading into Week 11- and no, not just because they're playing the winless Lions.

Nick Chubb could be nearing a return for Cleveland.
