The Cleveland Browns will be starting rookie cornerback Greedy Williams opposite Denzel Ward on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, according to Steve Wyche of NFL Network. Williams beat 2018 starter Terrance Mitchell for the job; Mitchell should see time in sub-packages.

When the Browns drafted Williams in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, they figured he'd one day be a starter. In fact, most thought that it will be day one, considering that pre-draft, many big boards had him as the best cornerback in the class over the likes of DeAndre Baker, Byron Murphy, Rock Ya-Sin, Sean Murphy-Bunting, and Joejuan Williams — who were all selected before him.

Coming out of LSU, Williams was praised for his pro-ready game in coverage. At 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with speed (4.37 second 40-time), Williams is on the skinny end of the spectrum but comes to Cleveland with ideal height and athleticism. His game reflects that of a shadow corner, as he's best when tasked to play physical press-man coverage

One of Williams' most prominent weaknesses coming into NFL was his tackling, but he changed that during his time in training camp, according to multiple reports — which ultimately may have led to earning the starting job.

With Ward and Williams as the team's outside cornerback duo, the Browns boast one of the NFL's most talented young pair of playmakers at cornerback in the NFL. Ward, the No. 4 pick in 2018, was a Pro Bowler as a rookie, while Williams comes aboard with his fair share of hype surrounding him.
