The Cleveland Browns suddenly have a big opening at wide receiver after they traded away former first-round pick Corey Coleman to the Buffalo Bills. Naturally, the attention has turned to free-agent veteran, Dez Bryant, who has been linked with the Browns for the last couple of weeks.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Browns do still have interest in Bryant. However, Dez has yet to decide to schedule a visit with the team, and there’s a bit of a holding pattern with his whole situation.

Apart from Coleman’s departure, the Browns also have some lingering questions about top receiver Josh Gordon, who has yet to report to training camp as he continues to undergo treatment. Although, a recent report suggests that Gordon is “getting closer to returning” to the team.

Despite the Browns’ combination of interest and need at wide receiver, Bryant is still taking his time to think about whether they’re the right fit for him. He reportedly only wants to sign with a contender, and even with the Browns’ upgrades this offseason, they’re unlikely to be at that level this year.

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. Even with the limited interest he’s garnered, Bryant has proven he’s willing to wait for the right situation to come up before signing. But while the Browns are interested in Bryant now, it remains to be seen if they’re willing to wait on him for much longer or if they decide to go in another direction to fill their need at receiver.
