The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed offensive lineman Joe Haeg, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Haeg spent the first four years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts and is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played every game, but did not make a start. Overall, he played 74 snaps, with 70 of them coming via special teams.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at North Dakota State, was originally selected by the Colts in the fifth round (155th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He played in 15 games and made 14 starts during his rookie season, displaying versatility by playing both guard positions and tackle. Haeg expressed similar versatility in his 16 appearances and 15 starts in 2017, spending time at both guard and tackle.

The Lake Shore, Mn. native was then limited to just eight games due to injury in 2018, starting six of them. Once again, he played guard and tackle.

While Haeg did not make a single start in 2019, he obviously brings versatility to the table, and the Bucs actually already have a solid offensive line, with Pro Football Focus ranking their offensive line unit seventh in the NFL this past year.

The Buccaneers made arguably the biggest splash of free agency this week, signing Tom Brady to a two-year contract. Brady joins a Tampa Bay club that is loaded with weapons, ranging from wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to tight end O.J. Howard.

The Buccaneers have not made the playoffs in 12 years, but they may be on their way to changing that.
