Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Tom Brady was looking forward to watching some great football on TV over the weekend. With them already out of contention, the legendary quarterback was excited to see the remaining teams and the young QBs looking to follow in his footsteps as they slug it out to advance to the Super Bowl.

But of course, when you're the GOAT, a day of relaxation rarely happens.

In the latest episode of his Let's Go! podcast, Brady said he was inundated with calls and messages after reports surfaced that he's retiring from the NFL. While the Buccaneers signal-caller admitted he's learned to handle the media attention, he felt like he didn't deserve the spotlight that day (via ESPN).

“It's not for me to control those things. There were some very important games going on the weekend, and I know how hard those players work to prepare for that. I was actually a little bit disappointed that would play some part of what's going on in NFL football, which to me has been such an amazing sport. The focus should be on those great games. I was trying to enjoy a nice weekend. It didn't quite turn out that way because my phone got really busy, but that's just part of being in the situation I'm in.”

The 44-year-old Brady stopped short of blasting the media for focusing on his alleged retirement, but he's definitely right in saying that reporters should've paid more attention to the action on the field.

The Buccaneers are still awaiting the decision of Brady regarding his career. With the Super Bowl not happening until February 13, perhaps now is the right time to put the spotlight on him.
