The Milwaukee Bucks made two massive trades late Monday night to acquire Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic. In the Holiday deal, they gave up three future first-round picks and two pick swaps, a big return for Holiday as well as a giant risk for the Bucks. Giannis Antetkounmpo now has two more running mates that could help him win in the playoffs but he still could become a free agent after this season and now Holiday could walk in a year as well.

On the daily Locked On Bucks Podcast, host Kane Pitman reacts to the Jrue Holiday trade news and speculates on what this giant risk could mean for Giannis' future free-agency situation.

Kane Pitman: I think that one of the things we've been grappling with over the last couple of months is that some of the narratives that have been coming out of the Bucks was that you don't want to overreact to what happened in the postseason. But they kind of had to if they wanted to try and show Giannis they were not just going to keep banging their heads against the wall with the same guys year in year out and lose the same way.

I think a lot of the pessimism from me regarding this team in 2021. The pessimism for me was, I don't know what trade is out there that you can get that you can look at the team categorically and say I think this team is better in 2021. I think this trade does that. A lot of the time, I've spoken about Jrue Holiday, I thought that you were going to have to include Brook Lopez. Now I didn't expect that they were going to go to the lengths of giving up three first-round picks and two draft swaps.

Maybe this is the Bucks just throwing everything in because they need to do this to try and keep Giannis. This also does and it probably should give them some optimism that this is a move that Giannis would be happy with right now.

If he's going to sign an extension, then obviously future first-round picks and pick swaps aren't as big of a factor as you'd expect that they're going to be because you're going to be picking in the 20s every single year. So we'll wait and see what happens with Giannis and the extension but I'm a little bit concerned about how much they've had to give away and I do think it has got potential to be a complete disaster if Giannis doesn't sign the extension and Jrue Holiday walks in 12 months time. However, I probably feel better about you Giannis sign an extension now than I did before this trade.
