Bobby Portis is feeling the love in Milwaukee. The Bucks forward has been a fan favorite throughout his first season with the team, and the love will probably remain permanent after winning the NBA championship.

Portis sat down with The Athletic's Shams Charania to discuss a handful of topics, including what it's been like dealing with fans in and around the Milwaukee area ever since their title win.

“Every time I go somewhere it's like, ‘nah, I got it.' Like the guy behind me might say he has it or the woman that's been working at the restaurant might say they're gonna take care of it. It's definitely a crazy, crazy feeling.

When you play as hard as Portis did for the Bucks, you're undoubtedly going to endear yourself to the fanbase. Portis has felt that now, even during his rare trips outside of his home amidst the pandemic, particularly in his “favorite” corner store.

“I went to a Walgreens a couple weeks ago and I ain't pay for nothing at Walgreens, not always. … just go in, get out real fast. I tried to do that and the guy said he'll handle it, and he worked there. It's definitely been a crazy experience. Definitely life-changing for me and my family.”

Bobby Portis has only been with Milwaukee for one season, and yet he already feels like the quintessential Bucks player. He's hard-nosed, overlooked, and gives his all throughout every minute of every game. That's probably why Giannis Antetokounmpo, the living embodiment of those traits, went out of his way to make sure he re-signed.

Bobby Portis is loving Milwaukee, and the feeling has been mutual.
