MilwaukeeBucks fans could not have asked for a better start from team cornerstone superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the reigning MVP's defense of his title officially got underway on Thursday night. Giannis led the Bucks to a 117-111 victory against the Houston Rockets, as the 24-year-old logged a highly impressive 30 points (on 11-of-17 shooting), 13 rebounds, 11 assists, a steal, and a block before fouling out.

What's scary about Antetokounmpo is the fact that he thinks he has yet to reach his full potential. According to the three-time All-Star himself, he believes that he is currently just at 60%, an analysis that new Bucks teammate Kyle Korver appears to be getting on board with at this point:

“I was like, ‘Yeah, ok; Whatever; Sure,” he told Sam Amick of The Athletic. “And then I ended up shooting with him the next week (at the University of California Santa Barbara), randomly, and I was like, ‘Hmm. He might be about 60 percent.’”

After his team's victory against a new-look Rockets side, Giannis was his typical self. He refused to rest on his laurels, and instead focused on how he can further improve his game:

“I can get a lot better,” Antetokounmpo told The Athletic while nodding at his locker after the win on Thursday night. “As I said in the summer, as long as I believe that I can get better, that’s all that matters. And I know that I can get better, because – as you said – I had travels (against the Rockets), I wasn’t able to score in the first quarter, wasn’t able to get a rhythm, wasn’t able to find my teammates. There’s so many things where I can get better. I’m not going to be perfect, but I can get better. It doesn’t matter what people say throughout the league, because a lot of people don’t believe that I can get better. But I do believe that I can get better.

“I fouled out from all the excitement (in the game). So I can get better from staying on the court. There’s so many things where I can improve. And that’s what Coach Bud tells me, and I want to keep doing it until I get it right.”

Antetokounmpo and his Bucks are back in action on Saturday, as they take on fellow Eastern Conference contenders, the Miami Heat, in Milwaukee's first home game of the new season.
