The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to get the league's approval of a cap relief for the now-retired Mirza Teletovic. Teletovic signed a 3-year, $31M deal with the Bucks in 2016.

Yahoo Sports' Keith Smith tweeted out this development from the Bucks camp.

The injury exclusion for Mirza Teletovic's stretched salary that the Milwaukee Bucks applied to the NBA for is “very likely to be approved” per a league source. Given that Teletovic has already retired due to the injury/condition, there is almost no reason the NBA could deny.

It was an unfortunate ending to Teletovic' career as he was diagnosed with pulmonary emboli last season, ultimately ending his NBA career. Teletovic was an excellent stretch forward during his six-year stint in the league and has career averages of 8.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and a 37% clip from beyond the arc.

Before the offseason began this year, the Bucks used the stretch provision when they waived Teletovic' contract. Until the 2020-21 season, the team still owes Teletovic a total of $3M each year.

While this could be just a meager amount, it would still cost the Bucks in the long run. The team could use the cap relief to sign quality free agents in the future.

This season, the team is off to a hot start with an 8-2 win-loss card. They have replaced Teletovic' spot with another stretch forward in Ersan Ilyasova, who has proved to be a key cog early this season.

But the basketball road does not end here for the 33-year old Teletovic as he is set to become the president of the Bosnian Basketball Federation.
