Many have long wondered how high Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo's ceiling would be if he ever added a consistent three-point shot into his game. We might just get a sneak peak of that this season.
Frank Madden of Brew Hoop pointed out on Twitter how Antetokounmpo seems to have a new-found love with the three point shot.
Even if Giannis doesn't improve from deep, one way he can get even more efficient is by swapping long 2s for 3s.
Last year 24% of his shots were 2-pointer outside paint (34% eFG) vs. just 10% threes (45% eFG). This preseason it's flipped: 10% long twos and 24% threes. #BudEffect

This, however, has to be taken with a grain of salt since the preseason sample size is very small. Even so, this increased frequency may be a preview of how Antetokounmpo's game could flourish further with new head coach Mike Budenholzer at the helm.
Antetokounmpo has been making most of his damage on the inside for the most part of his career. His long strides and freakish athleticism allow him to get to the basket with ease. He led the league last season with 15.7 points in the paint.
As far his three-point shot was concerned, The Greek Freak made just 28.4 percent of his threes last season where he made just 43 out of 140 attempts.
There were at times when Giannis settled for inefficient mid-range jumpers. His lack of confidence in that shot was still clearly in his head.
This preseason, however, he looked to be much more confident in his shot as he hoisted up threes with no hesitation. In three preseason games, Antetokounmpo attempted 10 threes and made 4. Again, though the sample size is small, it is encouraging for Bucks fans to see his gaining confidence in his shot.
If the preseason is any indication of what's to come this season, watch out. Adding a pretty decent three point shot to his already dominating game will just make his ceiling much higher.
Will there even be a ceiling if he ever does?
