Milwaukee Bucks forward Mirza Teletovic is currently in his sixth NBA season, with the Bucks his second team since leaving the Brooklyn Nets. However, the 32-year-old’s career — and possibly his life — could’ve been much shorter if not for former Nets trainer Tim Walsh.

During their time together in Brooklyn, Walsh had a sneaking suspicion that the breathing difficulties Teletovic had suffered from during one particular game were a lot more serious despite Teletovic’s condition improving.

“My gut told me he's not OK,” Walsh said to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “I know the ER doctor is saying he's OK, but something's not right. So I said, ‘If they don't want to do a CT, I'm going somewhere else to get one.'”

As it turns out, Walsh’s hunch was proven right when a CT scan revealed multiple blood clots in Teletovic’s lungs. Teletovic had to miss the remainder of the season due to his condition, but he could’ve had a potentially fatal episode on a plane had it not been for Walsh’s intervention.

The Nets eventually got rid of Walsh as their head trainer despite helping save one of their players’ lives. However, Walsh likely has the eternal gratitude of Teletovic, who might not be where he is today without Walsh’s help.
