Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter refused to comment on the NFL's investigation into quarterback Jameis Winston on Wednesday, November 22. Koetter made his comments in an interview with JoeBucsFan.com.

“No. Because I can’t talk about it,” Dirk Koetter said. “That is in the hands of the NFL right now. And we’re cooperating with that investigation to whatever extent that is I don’t even know. There’s just nothing I can say about it right now. It’s got to run its course. And when it does, we’ll have more to say at that time.”

Koetter is in a tough position. His team appears to be turning its season around after starting 2-6. The Bucs won their second straight game last weekend in a 30-20 victory. Backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 22 of 37 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bucs.

However, the Jameis Winston investigation continues to be the white elephant in the room for Tampa Bay. One of the toughest jobs for a head coach is to shield his team from controversy, especially when it involves the starting quarterback.

Winston allegedly groped an Uber driver in March 2016. According to Buzzfeed News, the NFL opened an investigation into the matter. Winston denied any allegations of wrongdoing, but the investigation remains ongoing.
