The Chicago Bulls are falling in front of everyone's eyes, but Bobby Portis is relaying a different message.
Bobby Portis told K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune that the Bulls are “together” and that the perception of those outside the team doesn't accurately describe what they felt following yesterday's team meeting.
Bobby Portis said the outside perception of Bulls doesn’t square with how team felt after team meeting yesterday: “We’re together.”

Portis is undoubtedly trying to be a good teammate and show that the Bulls are a tight-knit group, but it's hard to believe that's the case. As rumors and reports continue to fly, it's clear that there is some sort of disconnect between the players and the coaching staff.
Don't fault Portis for this comment, though. He's doing his best to try and take control of the situation and maintain a calm demeanor. Unfortunately, head coach Jim Boylen may have already lost the locker room.
The latest reports suggest that the team was on the brink of a full-scale mutiny at one point. Perhaps, the meeting did answer questions from both sides. But it's hard to believe that when there are still reports swirling about the dysfunction.
Portis is in a tough situation because he's still working his way back from a knee injury. While other players can take the floor and try to play through the drama, Portis is resigned to the bench as his knee heals ever so slowly.
Portis had the best year of his young career last season and the hope was that he would build on that this year. However, injuries and general team dysfunction are taking away what should have been another step forward for the 23-year-old.
