With a 2-6 record to start the season, things have not gone as planned for the Chicago Bulls. Despite being in rebuild mode, they have suffered some blows that have further dampened their chances of winning more games. Now, they received more bad news as their promising young swingman, David Nwaba, will miss the next two to four weeks due to a sprained ankle.

The news was confirmed recently by head coach Fred Hoiberg, via ESPN’s Nick Friedell. He then added that the 24-year-old Cal Poly product is currently in crutches in order to relieve pressure off his ankle.

“He's going to be probably two to four weeks,” Hoiberg said. “He's got a severe ankle sprain. He's off the crutches now, he's in a walking boot, but he sprained it pretty good.”

David Nwaba went undrafted last year, but was able to make the Los Angeles Lakers roster later in the season after his stint with the Reno Bighorns of the G-League. He signed with the Bulls during the offseason, and has been playing well for them through eight games, averaging 6.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.

Paul Zipser is expected to replace Nwaba in the starting lineup, and should see an uptick in his minutes. Denzel Valentine could also receive more playing time for the Bulls, as they look to string a few wins together, and improve on their slow start to the season.
