Chicago Bulls guard Tomas Satoransky got an up-close view of what it's going to be like playing for Jim Boylen this season on Tuesday at Chicago's first practice of the season.

Satoransky says “it’s a lot of energy there” when asked to describe the Bulls head coach.

“It’s a lot of energy there. He runs up and down talking to each player. I love this type of communication when the coach is with you,” Satoransky said Tuesday at the Advocate Center, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

“I feel also that you can talk to him at anytime. And that’s the most important for the player when he has that kind of confidence and there’s this open relationship.”

Jim Boylen is passionate about basketball and developing relationships with his players. Boylen visited power forward Lauri Markkanen in Finland this summer. He also met with Zach LaVine while the guard was training in the Bahamas.

Bulls vice president of basketball operations John Paxson likes the way Boylen holds all the players on the team accountable. Boylen is definitely an old school type of coach, something Paxson, general manager Gar Forman and the rest of the brass in Chicago enjoy seeing.

Tomas Satoransky signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Bulls in free agency this summer. He averaged 8.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists last season for the Washington Wizards while shooting 48.5 percent overall, 39.5 percent from the 3-point line and 81.9 percent from the charity stripe.
